Community Circles Project

What is the Community Circles Project?

The Community Circles project is an effort by CIS of Charleston to connect resources – both products and people – with students and staff in the schools we serve. There is no meeting time required, just a means of staying tuned via email and e-News to various items on our “wish lists” so that students have what they need to succeed – from uniform clothing to a helpful mentor or tutor. Join a Virtual Circle with us and discover and suggest new ways to support your neighborhood school!

each Burns Elementary School student!

Here are 6 Ways to Help Your Neighborhood School:

  1. Donate: Contribute money for specific school needs so that we can continue to fulfill our commitment to support and empower local students.

  2. Gather Resources to Meet Needs: Help us acquire the supplies and services our schools and students need (e.g. school supplies, field trip funds, gift certificates, positive behavior incentives, transportation, or emergency assistance with electricity, running water or home safety improvements for our families).

  3. Be a job shadow host: Invite a CIS student to learn about your field first-hand.

  4. Organize a Fundraiser: Host an event to raise money for student needs.

  5. Speak publicly: Volunteer to motivate, inform or simply just share your message with your community’s youth.

  6. Reach out and recruit: Help us partner with community churches, business and local leaders by reaching out to them or helping us get in touch. Tell family, friends and colleagues about the good work accomplished by Communities In Schools and help us recruit new members for our Circles.
